Parent Support for Gender-Diverse and LGBTQ+ Youth in Texas

Support for parents navigating gender identity with care, confidence and compassion

What’s on your mind?

Parenting a gender-diverse teen or LGBTQ+ child can bring up a mix of emotions. Love, fear, confusion, protectiveness, grief and deep concern for your child’s future and development. You may want to do everything “right” but feeling unsure where to start or afraid of making mistakes.

I offer parent support for families of gender-diverse, transgender, nonbinary and LGBTQ+ youth in Texas. My goal is to provide a safe space where parents can ask questions openly, process their emotions and learn how to support their child in ways that protect both connection and mental health.

When Parents Seek Support

Many parents reach out not because they don’t love their child, but because they do.

You may be:

  • Trying to understand your child’s gender identity or sexual orientation

  • Feeling overwhelmed by conflicting information or opinions

  • Worried about your child’s mental health, safety or well-being

  • Unsure how to respond to name or pronoun changes

  • Navigating family, school or community reactions

  • Experiencing fear, grief, guilt or confusion alongside love

  • Wanting to support your child while managing your own emotions

Parent support offers a space where your experience matters too.

Why Parent Support Matters for Gender-Diverse Teens

Research consistently shows that parent support is one strongest protective factors for transgender and gender-diverse youth. Feeling seen, believed and supported at home can significantly reduce anxiety, depression and suicide risk.

How does parent-support therapy benefit my family? The focus will be on:

  • Strengthening the parent-child relationship

  • Reducing fear-based reactions and increasing confidence

  • Improving communication and emotional safety

  • Helping parents respond with encouragement rather than panic

  • Navigating the family system in this time of change

You don’t need to be the perfect parent. Being present and willing to learn makes a powerful difference for your child.

What Parent Support Looks Like

Parent support is not about blame, judgment or forcing belief changes. It is about helping you show up in ways that align with your values while protecting your child’s emotional health.

What will we explore in a session?

  • What gender identity means and what it doesn’t.

  • Common myths and misconceptions

  • How to respond to your child with empathy and curiosity
